CytoGrow™ Recombinant Persephin (Human), E. coli, Tag Free
Recombinant human Persephin is produced in E. coli in a tag-free format, yielding a biologically active neurotrophic factor suitable for research applications. Persephin belongs to the glial cell line–derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) family ligands, which signal through GFRα receptors and the RET tyrosine kinase pathway to regulate neuronal survival and development.
In humans, Persephin is expressed at low levels in the central nervous system and supports the survival of motor neurons and dopaminergic neurons. It plays important roles in neuroprotection, axonal growth, and neuronal maintenance. Due to its selective activity compared to other GDNF family members, Persephin is studied for therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Recombinant Persephin is widely used in neuroscience research, neuronal culture systems, and neurodegeneration models.
