Recombinant porcine Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is produced in E. coli in a tag-free format, ensuring high specific bioactivity and a high degree of purity without the interference of affinity tags. IL-6 is a multifunctional, pleiotropic cytokine that serves as a primary mediator of the immune response, hematopoiesis, and the acute-phase inflammatory reaction.
In the porcine model, IL-6 acts as a critical signaling molecule that binds to its cognate receptor (IL-6R), subsequently associating with the signal-transducing subunit gp130. This interaction stimulates the differentiation of B-cells into antibody-secreting plasma cells, promotes T-cell activation, and induces the hepatic production of acute-phase proteins. Due to its central role in porcine physiology, this recombinant protein is essential for investigating species-specific immune mechanisms and veterinary pathology.
